What is altBeta?

altBeta isn’t so much a Minecraft beta project in the usual sense as it is a collection of basic tools and information for developing your own Minecraft beta project.

The biggest headache with older versions isn’t so much the lack of tools—after all, there are plenty of open-source launchers out there—but rather the lack of instructions. You still have to dig through a massive amount of information yourself.

I’m familiar with projects like BetaCraft, which is also open-source. But the main difference between altBeta and BetaCraft is the quality of the documentation. Using just our Wiki, you can get your altBeta up and running in a single evening!
